How to download a Westpac eStatement
In Online Banking
- Go to Overview, then Statements.
- Select an account under Active accounts (or Closed accounts).
- Enter a date range or choose a preset, then select Search.
- Select Download PDF.
In the Westpac App
- Search Statements in the Smart Search bar and tap Statements (incl. closed accounts).
- Select the account and tap the statement period.
- Tap the share icon to download or send a copy.
Westpac issues a statement at least every six months, so a single statement can cover half a year of transactions. Each statement page holds about 36 transactions.
Westpac's transaction exports
Westpac is one of the more export-friendly banks. From Online Banking on a desktop:
- Go to Overview and select Exports and reports.
- In the Transactions section, select Export.
- Choose a date range, the accounts, a file format (CSV, QBO, QIF or OFX) and a date format, then select Export.
QBO and OFX are only available for a single account. Westpac also offers a Transactions Report: a PDF on Westpac letterhead covering a date range of up to 12 months, which is a record of activity rather than an import file.
When the statement is still the better source
- Business loan accounts aren't in Westpac's bank feeds; Westpac says to export the transaction history and import it.
- Business credit cards only feed to MYOB, not Xero or QuickBooks.
- Closed business accounts lose their eStatements.
- Clients who only send PDFs, which is common for accountants and bookkeepers.
- You need the statement, with its period and balances, for a lender, accountant or audit.
Converting a Westpac PDF statement
- Upload one or more Westpac eStatements. Batch upload handles a year of statements at once.
- Pick the output: Excel, CSV, JSON, Xero CSV, or QuickBooks 3- or 4-column CSV.
- Download one transaction per row, with date, description, amounts and balance in separate columns.
Dates stay day-first and amounts stay in Australian dollars.
Getting Westpac data into Xero, QuickBooks or MYOB
- Xero: choose Xero CSV and import it as a bank statement for the matching account.
- QuickBooks: choose the 3- or 4-column CSV and upload it from file.
- MYOB: MYOB Business imports statements as QIF or OFX. Westpac's own QIF or OFX export, or its MYOB bank feed, is the route there.
Westpac credit card statements convert with the credit card statement converter.
