How to download a Monzo statement
- Tap Home in the app's menu bar.
- Tap the three dots underneath your card.
- Tap Bank statements.
- Choose the date range.
- Choose the format: PDF, CSV or QIF.
Statements for Pots are included. If you have the account in your app and just need your own transactions in a spreadsheet, Monzo's CSV is the quickest way.
When you're working from a Monzo PDF
Converting a Monzo PDF makes sense when the PDF is what you have:
- Someone else's statements. Accountants, bookkeepers, landlords and lenders usually receive statements as PDFs, with no access to the person's app.
- Closed accounts. When you close an account, Monzo emails your full transaction history as a password-protected statement. Open it with the password Monzo sends you.
- Business accounts without integrations. Monzo's accounting integrations are on Pro and Team. On the free plan, or for periods your accounting tool didn't sync, Monzo itself recommends exporting a statement and uploading it.
Converting a Monzo PDF statement
- Upload one or more Monzo PDF statements. Batch upload handles a year of monthly statements at once.
- Pick the output: Excel, CSV, JSON, Xero CSV, or QuickBooks 3- or 4-column CSV.
- Download one transaction per row, with date, description and amounts in separate columns.
Dates stay day-first and amounts stay in pounds.
Monzo Business and accounting software
- Integrations: Monzo Business connects to Xero, FreeAgent, Sage and QuickBooks on the Pro and Team plans. QuickBooks uses a limited Open Banking feed that you set up from QuickBooks.
- History: when you sync, you can go back up to 12 months.
- Older periods: Monzo says that if you didn't sync them, you'll need to export your bank statement as a CSV and upload it to the accounting platform.
- Avoid duplicates: Monzo warns not to re-sync periods you've already uploaded, as this can create duplicates.
If the statement you have is a PDF, convert it to Xero CSV or QuickBooks CSV first, then import it.
