How to download a NatWest PDF statement
In Online Banking
- Select Statements & transactions from the main menu, then Statements.
- Choose the account and change the year in the dropdown if needed.
- Select the statement cycle you want, and it downloads as a PDF.
The PDF isn't editable, and it shows the address you had when the statement was produced. A digital copy should be available within 24 hours of the statement being produced, and you'll get an email when a new one is ready.
In the NatWest app
- Select the account, then the three-dot icon at the top.
- Choose Statements and select the statement you want.
- Tap the export button at the top right and choose how to save or share it.
For business customers, the app shows statements from July 2023 onwards; for anything earlier, use Online Banking.
Exporting NatWest transactions
In Online Banking, open View transactions for the account, use the search options to set what you want, then export. NatWest lists Excel and PDF among the export formats. Two things to know:
- Today's transactions aren't included in the download.
- If a comma-separated download displays wrongly, NatWest suggests downloading in tab-delimited format instead.
Bankline (business): statement download in PDF and CSV is available in the new Bankline. NatWest says it will be removed from the original Bankline in November 2026.
When the export isn't enough
- It's a search, not a statement. It lacks the statement period and its opening and closing balances.
- You only have the PDFs. Accountants often receive client statements as PDFs.
- Historic and closed-account statements arrive on paper or by request, and older historic statements come in the same format as a regular monthly statement, so a scan or PDF is what you'll be working from.
Converting a NatWest PDF statement
Because NatWest statements are locked PDFs, you can't just edit them into a spreadsheet. AI Bank Statement reads the statement as laid out:
- Upload one or more NatWest PDF statements, or scans of paper statements. Batch upload handles a year of monthly statements at once.
- Pick the output: Excel, CSV, JSON, Xero CSV, or QuickBooks 3- or 4-column CSV.
- Download one transaction per row, with date, description, money out, money in and balance in separate columns.
NatWest's transaction codes (such as D/D, S/O and BAC) stay with each line's description, dates stay day-first, and amounts stay in pounds.
Getting NatWest data into Xero, QuickBooks or FreeAgent
NatWest business current account customers get FreeAgent free while they keep the account, with a bank feed. For gaps in a feed, or for Xero and QuickBooks:
- Xero: choose Xero CSV, then import it as a bank statement for the matching account.
- QuickBooks: choose the 3- or 4-column CSV that matches your import settings, then upload it from file.
NatWest credit card statements convert the same way with the credit card statement converter.
