What changed in August 2026
Starling changed how statements work in the app:
- Monthly statements cover full calendar months only, and come as PDF or large-print PDF.
- Every statement has a True Copy stamp at the top of each page, so it can be verified by third parties such as mortgage brokers.
- CSV moved to a separate transaction summary export, which only covers dates in the last 12 months and isn't a verifiable statement.
Older guides that say you can download a Starling statement as CSV are out of date.
How to download a Starling statement
- Open your account menu in the top right of the app.
- Tap Statements and documents, then Statement history.
- Select the month or months you want and tap Download statement.
- Choose PDF or Large print PDF.
If you pick more than one month, the statements download together in a ZIP file. The previous month's statement is ready between the 4th and 10th of each month. Starling doesn't post paper statements, so download the PDF and print it if you need paper.
How to export a CSV transaction summary
- Go to Statements and documents โบ Statement history.
- Tap Go to feed exports at the top of the screen.
- Choose Current month to date, Last 3 full months, or Custom date range (within the last 12 months).
- Choose CSV.
When the summary isn't enough
- Anything older than 12 months. The summary can't reach it; your monthly PDFs can.
- You need the statement. Starling says summaries are not verifiable statements, so lenders and accountants may ask for the PDFs.
- You only have the PDFs. Accountants and bookkeepers usually receive statements from clients, not app access.
Converting a Starling PDF statement
- Upload one or more Starling PDF statements. A ZIP of several months can be unzipped and uploaded together; batch upload handles a year at once.
- Pick the output: Excel, CSV, JSON, Xero CSV, or QuickBooks 3- or 4-column CSV.
- Download one transaction per row, with date, description and amounts in separate columns.
Dates stay day-first and amounts stay in pounds. Starling statements only include settled transactions, so pending card payments won't appear in either the statement or the conversion.
Starling business accounts and accounting software
Starling business accounts connect to Xero, QuickBooks and FreeAgent from the Marketplace in the app, and Starling also has its own Starling Accounting. The integrations share settled transactions automatically.
For periods before you connected, or when you're working from a client's PDFs, convert the statements to Xero CSV or QuickBooks CSV and import them.
